Five Players Share Mammoth Eurojackpot Top Prize in Friday Night’s Draw

Friday night’s Eurojackpot draw created an incredible five jackpot winners — the largest number in a single draw since the pan-European lottery began.

After weeks of consecutive rollovers, Eurojackpot effectively went into lockdown at the end of 2016 when it hit its lofty jackpot cap of €90 million. This meant big things not just for the eventual jackpot winner, but also for those who picked up prizes in the next tiers, with what would once have been jackpot prize money trickling down into the second prize pot. So it’s understandable that 6th January’s draw garnered a tremendous amount of attention.

When the balls finally dropped on Friday night, they changed not just one but five players’ lives forever. In an unprecedented Eurojackpot result, three players from Germany, one from Denmark, and another from the Netherlands all managed to match all five main numbers plus both Euro numbers to take home an amazing €18 million each — the first time Eurojackpot’s top prize has been shared since the lottery came into being in 2012.

But the lottery luck didn’t stop there: 35 other players matched five main numbers plus one Euro number to bag prizes of €596,447 each, with another 30 matching the five main balls to find themselves €37,115 better off following the mammoth draw.

With the rollover chain finally broken, Eurojackpot’s top-tier prize now resets to a more modest, but still life-changing €10 million. Following the excitement caused by last week’s draw, however, it’s possible that an influx of new Eurojackpot players will kick the game into overdrive and the final jackpot will end up being much more.

Tickets for Friday’s draw are available now, both online and off. Good luck to you, whether you’re a brand new player or a long-time lover of this big-money lottery.
