German Player Lands €120 Million Eurojackpot Prize

A player from Baden-Württemberg in Germany landed €120 million in the latest Eurojackpot draw on Friday night, equalling the record for the biggest win in the game’s history.
The jackpot reached its €120 million cap in the previous draw on Tuesday 6th May but nobody won, so it stayed at its limit for Friday’s draw and someone snapped up the full amount at the second attempt. They matched the numbers 1, 5, 27, 36 and 43, plus Euro numbers 5 and 9.
On a magical night, there were more than 1.5 million prizes paid out across all the different categories, with lucky ticket holders in all 19 participating countries. Go to the Eurojackpot Results page for 9th May for full details of everything that happened in the draw.
New State Record
Friday’s win set a new record for the state of Baden-Württemberg. Previously, the largest jackpot that had been won in the southern German state was €90 million back in October 2016.
The game has changed since that big win, with the maximum jackpot increased from €90 million to €120 million in March 2022. Multiple players have already pocketed the top prize at that amount, including several from Germany.
When the jackpot hits its cap and no more funds can be added on top, the extra money generated by ticket sales is instead diverted down to the prize for matching all five main numbers and one Euro number. This effectively makes a second jackpot which can be worth tens of millions of euros.
There were five winners in this second tier on Friday night - one each from Germany (Lower Saxony), Norway, Estonia, Finland and Slovakia. Each of these players scooped €4.8 million.
Jackpot Resets to €10 Million
The jackpot now resets to its minimum amount of €10 million for the next draw on Tuesday night. It could turn into a month of regular wins, or perhaps the jackpot will build back up again to nine figures.
You can play by visiting an authorized retailer in any of the 19 participating countries, or choose your numbers online.
