Finnish Player Wins €86.9 Million on Eurojackpot
A lucky player from Finland made history on Friday 14th April as they scooped the €86.9 million top prize on Eurojackpot to become the biggest ever lottery winner from the country. The previous record for a Finnish player on Eurojackpot had been the €61.1 million claimed back in 2014.
Friday’s jackpot was also the fourth highest on Eurojackpot since the game launched in 2012, and fans from Spain to Slovenia took part in the hope of winning a life-changing amount of money. The numbers drawn were 6, 22, 33, 46 and 49, with Euro numbers 1 and 5, and the only participant to match the whole of the winning line bought a quick-pick ticket in the city of Tampere in south-west Finland.
Over 1 million other participants across the continent won prizes. There were three players - from Finland, Denmark and Germany - who matched five main numbers plus one Euro number to win €821,662 each. Another 10 ticket holders matched five main numbers to win €86,999 each, while the other prizes ranged from €8.20 for matching two main numbers and one Euro number to €5,178 for matching four main numbers and two Euro numbers. Take a look at the Eurojackpot Results page for more information.
The jackpot had not previously been won since 10th February, when one German ticket holder and a Hungarian split €45.1 million. The top prize has now been won three times since the start of 2017, while millions of other players have snapped up awards.
If you reckon the jackpot will be won for the second time in a row this Friday, you can either choose your numbers online or visit an authorised retailer in any of the 17 participating countries for your chance to land €10 million. Good luck!
