Eurojackpot’s Top Prize Stays At €90 Million for Start of 2017

The top prize in Eurojackpot will remain at its €90 million maximum for the first draw of 2017 after nobody matched all five main numbers and both Euro numbers in the last draw on Friday 30th December. There were still some huge cash sums given away, though, as five players across the continent took advantage of the enlarged prize pool in the second tier to become millionaires.

The game had reached its €90 million jackpot cap in time for the final draw of 2016 following a run of rollovers, but nobody was quite able to snare the lot after the numbers 27, 30, 45, 47 and 50, with Euro numbers 1 and 9, were drawn. Excess funds above the €90 million mark were diverted to the next prize tier, ensuring that there was €13.2 million to be split between players who matched five main numbers and one Euro number.

German players dominated this tier with four of the five winners. The tickets were bought in Baden-Württemberg, North Rhine-Westphalia, Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate, while the fifth player to match five main numbers plus one Euro number came from the Czech Republic. Each winner banked €2.6 million.

Another five participants - two from Germany, one from Denmark, one from Finland and one from Slovakia - matched five main numbers to win €215,163 each, and in total there were more than 1.1 million players who picked up prizes. Visit the Eurojackpot Results page for a full prize breakdown.

The jackpot will stay at €90 million until it is won, but the prize fund for the second tier is set to be even higher at around €20 million for the next draw on Friday.

There have been two previous occasions when a jackpot of €90 million has been won - first in May 2015 by a player from the Czech Republic and then by a ticket holder from Germany in October 2016. It would be the perfect start to the new year for someone else to scoop €90 million, and you can play now by entering online or visiting an authorised retailer in one of the participating countries. Good luck!
