Czech Player Wins Record Eurojackpot Prize
A Czech player won the joint-largest Eurojackpot prize in history on Tuesday night, setting a new national record in the process! The jackpot was worth €120 million (2,91 billion Czech koruna).
Eurojackpot hit its €120 million cap in the previous draw on Friday 22nd May, having been rolling over for a month and a half since it was last won on 7th April. Remarkably, there had been jackpot winners in three consecutive draws up to that point, so it went from one extreme to the other.
When the jackpot limit is reached, any funds that would normally go on top are instead allocated to the Match 5 + 1 Euro number category. This creates another big prize pot and the opportunity to win millions without even matching all the numbers.
On Tuesday night, the winning numbers were revealed to be 5, 11, 23, 33 and 42, plus Euro numbers 10 and 12. Among the 1.1 million prize winners, a single ticket holder from the Czech Republic matched all the numbers.
Five other players - four from Germany and one from Norway - matched all five main numbers and one Euro number to win more than €4 million each. Go to the Eurojackpot Results page to see a full prize breakdown.
Czech Record
No more information was released immediately after the draw about the Czech winner, but lottery officials were quick to congratulate the lucky ticket holder.
It is the largest lottery prize ever seen in the country, surpassing the player from Pardubice who made history as the first €90 million Eurojackpot winner back in May 2015. On collecting his winnings, the middle-aged man left quickly and insisted he needed to catch a train.
“We are thrilled that this record-breaking prize of almost three billion is being won by a winner from the Czech Republic. The prize exceeds the previous record of 2.466 billion crowns from May 2015,” said Martin Babec, manager of Czech lottery operator Allwyn.
The jackpot now resets to €10 million for the next draw on Friday. You can buy tickets from authorised retailers in any of the 19 participating countries, or play online. Keep an eye out for the latest results when they are announced.
