A Eurojackpot player from the Czech Republic has won the game’s top prize of €55 million after matching all the numbers drawn on Friday 14th June. It is the second-largest lottery prize to have been won in the country’s history and the lucky ticket holder has already been in contact with officials about claiming their money.

The winning numbers on Friday were 8, 23, 40, 41 and 42, with Euro numbers 2 and 10. Go to the Eurojackpot Results page for more information about the draw, in which more than 820,000 prizes are given away across 12 different categories.

The two tickets that matched all five main numbers plus one of the Euro numbers  were sold in Germany and Hungary respectively, winning over €1 million each. However, the biggest celebrations took place in the Czech Republic as a single online player landed a gigantic payout worth CZK 1.4 billion.

What Do We Know About The Winner?

The winner had 365 days to contact Czech lottery operator Sazka, but director of communications Václav Friedmann confirmed that they had already spoken to the player on Saturday and that more talks were planned for Monday.

Friedmann revealed that the winner was a man who had played from the comfort of his own home, but his identity will remain private for now unless he wants more information to be disclosed in the coming weeks. Sazka have 60 days to pay the winnings, but have said the funds are all ready to be transferred. The winner will also be able to receive as much psychological support and financial advice as he wants.

This is only the second time that Eurojackpot’s top prize has been won in the Czech Republic, following a €90 million payout in 2015. “The winner in 2015 still holds the gold spot,” said Friedman. “When a man from Pardubice came to negotiate the details of the win, he was nervous and said he was hurrying for the train.” The 2015 win marked the first time that Eurojackpot had reached its jackpot cap.

The latest result ended a run of four rollovers; the top prize had been growing since German and Polish players split €90 million on 10th May. The jackpot will now go back down to €10 million for the next draw on Friday. You can play from authorised retailers in any of the 18 participating countries, or take part online. Good luck!
