Eurojackpot Fan Ends 40-Year Wait for Lottery Win
A Eurojackpot player from Germany has ended a 40-year wait for a lottery win by claiming a €50.2 million jackpot. The lucky ticket holder, who has opted to remain anonymous, correctly predicted the numbers 3, 11, 13, 15, 23 and Euro numbers 1 and 9 in the draw on Friday 26th May to land the hefty sum.
The retiree, from Rhineland-Palatinate, waited a full 11 days before making himself known to lottery officials, a hold-up which made a number of Eurojackpot fans question whether or not the winner was aware of their victory. Upon collecting his enormous eight-figure sum, the jackpot recipient was quick to reveal that he had not slept for three nights after securing the prize.
The Eurojackpot enthusiast, who has been playing the game since its inception in March 2012, didn’t state exactly how he would be spending his vast windfall, claiming that he didn’t have any big wishes. However, the generous player did tell Eurojackpot staff that he does intend to donate a portion of his newfound wealth to needy children.
This latest win has improved what was already a fantastic year for German Eurojackpot fans. The European nation has already produced five jackpot winners in the past six months alone, and 12 since the start of 2016. In fact, the man’s success was the 22nd victory experienced by a player from Germany since the game began, with rivals Finland the closest competitor with 11 top prize winners.
Of course, you don’t need to live in Germany to win a Eurojackpot prize. So, if you would like to claim this Friday’s top prize of €15 million, you can choose your numbers online or play through an authorised retailer in any of the 17 participating countries from across the continent. Best of luck!
